Self made Entrepreneurs Survival guide
Here are some of our tips on surviving in business.
1. Preserve the cash
Don’t squander it on expensive offices or flash cars. Cash is your life line, don’t throw it away, you will need it to make sure you keep your head above water in the choppy seas ahead.
2. Test before you invest.
If you have a new idea make sure you test the water with it first. Make sure you do as much research as possible and try out your idea to get a feel for whether you think it will float or not, you don’t want to invest in an idea that may later sink.
3. Work hard but take time out
Working hard is good, but working constantly without a break will eventually water you down and your tiredness will prevent you working efficiently. Make sure that you take time out every so often to disconnect, this will make the working routine more sustainable, allowing you to achieve more in the long term and help you avoid reaching the burn out stage.
4. Don’t do it alone.
Is there someone who can help you? Maybe a friend or a family member? Don’t be afraid to ask for help, find a partner. Getting the right partner will make everything far more manageable. Two brains are also better than one, so you may make better business decisions bouncing ideas off a partner.
5. Get organised
Break things down into easy to manage lists. This will help you to not get overwhelmed trying to do everything at once. Breaking things down into small easy to manage lists and focusing on one task at a time makes sure you get everything done more efficiently. Make sure you use your phone to set reminders to help you schedule tasks.
Make sure you spend time learning, the more your research the stronger and more efficient you will become.
Make sure you keep fit. The healthier you are the more energy you will have to carry on.
8. Stay visible
Make sure that people can find your business. Make sure your website is optimized for the search engines and use social media to drive traffic to your website. You can also use paid online advertising on search engines and social media platforms to help your business gain exposure.
